for any category where you have multiple suppliers (lumber, paper, software), pick a default. preferred vendors sort first in bluejay's pay screen.

open the vendor card
click the vendor in your catfish list.

flip status to preferred
the toggle sits at the top of the card. one click — they sort first the next time you pay anyone in their category.

use it for the painful categories
lumber, paper, software, fuel — anywhere you've got three options and forget which is the default. preferred makes the default obvious in the picker.
tip
there's no limit on "preferred" but the feature works best when used sparingly — three preferred lumber yards is the same as zero.
