channels can't be deleted or archived from the ui yet — once you create one, it sticks around. ships in the next cricket drop.
to retire a channel, drop a final message ("this channel is closed; chat in #new-channel-name") and stop posting. the team can ignore it.
channel admins will be able to archive — the channel hides from the active list but message history stays in the audit log. delete will require an admin confirmation.
