cricket

see what's unread

every channel with new messages shows a badge with the count. cricket tracks per-user lastRead per channel, so the badges reflect what you specifically haven't seen.

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

the badge is the count of unread messages

in the channel sidebar. red badge with a number means "this many messages since you last opened it."

  2. 2

opening a channel marks it read

as soon as you click a channel, your lastRead pointer moves to the latest message. the badge clears.

  3. 3

the sidebar refreshes every 8 seconds

you don't need to reload the page — new messages and unread badges appear on their own.

    tip

the unread divider inside the message pane stays put while you're reading, even as new messages stream in. it's a snapshot from when you opened the channel — so you can find your spot when you scroll up.
