change your master password

for after a wrist-slap (you mistyped it into a chat, lent your computer to someone, etc.). possum re-wraps the master key under the new password — your individual entries don't move.

    open vault settings

    the gear icon in the toolbar.

    pick "change master password"

    the option lives at the top of settings.

    enter current and new

    type your current password (proves you own the vault), then a new one (12+ characters, ideally a fresh passphrase).

    save

    possum re-wraps the master key under the new password. your individual entries are untouched — just the wrapper around the key changed.

    tip

    after changing, generate fresh recovery codes — settings → "regenerate recovery codes." the old ones still work, but rotating both at once is cleaner.
