possum

share a login with a teammate

for client logins where two people on your team need access, today's pattern is: each person creates their own possum entry with the same credentials. true team-shared vaults (one entry, multiple users) are a future ship.

  1. 1

    today — duplicate per teammate

each person on your team adds the entry to their own possum vault. the password is the same, but encryption is per-vault.

  2. 2

    communicate the password securely

don't email or slack the password. text it from another secure channel (signal, whatsapp), or share through a secure-note tool, or just type it in front of them in person.

  3. 3

    soon — team vaults

shared team vaults (cypress-team-aware) are a future ship. one entry, decrypted by every team member with access.

    tip

when a teammate leaves, the duplicate-per-teammate model means you have to rotate every shared password. that's the cost of not having team vaults yet — but it's the right cost to take while we get the architecture solid.
