log a one-off expense

for cash expenses (a parking fee, a tip, gas you paid out of pocket) that don't have a receipt or didn't come through pawpaw / bluejay / sassafras.

    open the transactions tab

    the full ledger lives here.

    click "log expense"

    the button sits in the toolbar.

    fill in the basics

    date, amount, vendor, and category. categories follow your tax form so year-end is one click.

    save

    the entry posts to the ledger and the p&l immediately. it shows up with source = "manual" so you know it didn't auto-flow in.

    tip

    for receipts, use sassafras — the ai pulls vendor, date, total, and category from a photo. only use sycamore's manual log for things you literally can't photograph (a venmo to a kid for cleanup help).
