catfish

catfish vs dragonfly — which crm goes where

two crms in the suite, one for each side of the money. dragonfly = customers (people who pay you). catfish = vendors (people you pay).

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

    do they pay you?

dragonfly. customers, leads, anyone you'd send a pawpaw invoice to.

  2. 2

    do you pay them?

catfish. suppliers, subcontractors, recurring services, your accountant, your software vendors.

  3. 3

what about a customer who's also a vendor?

a small number of contacts go in both — that's fine. the dragonfly card tracks revenue, the catfish card tracks spend, and neither one tries to be the source of truth for the whole relationship.

    tip

if you find yourself confused about whether someone goes in dragonfly or catfish — ask which direction the money flows. that's almost always the right answer.
