open the lead and click "mark lost"
lost is its own pipeline stage. click the lead card, then the "mark lost" button (or drag the card to the lost column).

pick a reason
marigold prompts you for a reason. defaults include "too expensive", "timing wasn't right", "went with competitor", "unresponsive", "out of service area". add a free-text note for more detail.

watch the patterns over time
the marigold dashboard's "lost reasons" report shows the breakdown over the last 30 / 90 days. if 60% of your lost leads picked "too expensive", that's a pricing question. if 40% picked "unresponsive", that's a follow-up question.
tiplost doesn't mean gone forever. set a follow-up reminder for 6 months out — circumstances change, and a check-in often re-opens the conversation.
