add an automatic late fee

some customers will pay on time as long as they know there's a cost for not doing it. pawpaw can apply a late fee automatically once an invoice goes past due.

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

    open pawpaw settings

click the gear icon in pawpaw, then "late fees".

  2. 2

    set the rule

pick a flat fee ("$25") or a percentage of the unpaid balance ("5%"). pick when it kicks in — most operators use "7 days past due".

  3. 3

    save

the rule applies to every new invoice from this point forward. it's added as a separate line item the moment an invoice tips past the threshold, and the customer's reminder email mentions it.

    tip

tell customers about late fees on the invoice itself (in the notes/memo field) the first time you bill them. "a 5% late fee applies after 7 days" upfront prevents the surprise call.
