open sweetgum
click "sweetgum" from the app switcher.

click "add contractor"
the button sits in the top toolbar.

fill in the basics
type their display name (a person or a company), their email, and optionally a phone number.

save
they land on the list with a "missing w-9" flag until you collect one — that's the next step.
tip
add the contractor before you make the first payment. way easier to collect a w-9 upfront than to chase one in december.
