pick the right tax form for your business

the form you pick (schedule c / 1120-s / 1120 / 1065) shapes your chart of accounts and the year-end report. picking the wrong one means re-categorizing every income and expense account.

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

    open sycamore settings

the gear icon at the top of the page or the account-level settings.

  2. 2

    pick your form

    schedule c — sole proprietor or single-member llc. 1120-s — s-corp. 1120 — c-corp. 1065 — partnership or multi-member llc not electing s-corp.

  3. 3

    the chart of accounts conforms

income and expense accounts get tax-line codes that match. the year-end taxes view renders straight to the form's line numbers.

    tip

if you change entity type mid-year (sole prop converted to s-corp in june), sycamore stamps every transaction with the entity at the time. the year-end report shows two halves — one per stamp — so your cpa sees the full picture.
