label your equipment with asset tags

for any business with three or more of the same kind of tool (drills, ladders, sanders, trucks), an asset tag ("drill #3") makes the difference between a 10-second lookup and a 5-minute hunt through serial numbers.

    buy a roll of metal asset-tag stickers

    $15 on amazon. write a number on each piece of equipment with a paint marker if you'd rather. the format doesn't matter; consistency does.

    set the asset-tag field on the card
